Travis Alexander is a professor of English at Old Dominion University. He is at work on a book, The Birth of Viropolitics, which explores the HIV/AIDS epidemic through a range of texts and media — from the fiction of Bret Easton Ellis, Sapphire, and Octavia Butler to the cinema of John Carpenter and The X Files.
